The first time I met Jhoanna was yeeeears ago through my friend, Jay. She was this pretty, bubbly and stylish lady who was super nice from day one. I'd see her occasionally, but never really got the chance to actually sit and have a good talk. Years pass by and the only real connection we had was through social media (hello 2017! lol). Through the screen, I have been able to follow her journey: from her engagement to her pregnancy, to her announcement of the birth of her baby girl, to her newest project - her blog.
Jhoanna Flowers is not your regular mom blog - it's a cool mom blog. Photography is done by her hubby, the posts are genuine and relevant, and she alwayssssss dresses so well. What better way to celebrate her newest venture than with an interview over some burgers. Without further ado, let's get to know That Girl, Jhoanna.

  (PART I)

Blogger, Jhoanna Flowers

♥ I play softball
♥ I'm Christian
♥ I'm a new mama to Minori Grey Flores
♥ pizza is my homeslice
♥ Edgar is my high school sweetheart (p.s They've been dating for 13 years... Going on 14!)

I would say that burgers are my side chick. I'm a pizza lover. I just recently found out that I prefer ground beef burgers over patties. I'm such a Plain Jane when it comes to my burgers - so just lettuce, ketchup and mayo and I'm good. My absolute favourite burger place is Burger's Priest. But I can't say that I have a very intimate relationship like you. *laughs*

If you asked me this question two months ago, my answer would probably be different. I would have to say now that I can actually truly appreciate my body for what it can do (which is giving birth). The body is truly amazing. I think I'm really blessed that I [was] able to give birth to Minori, because I know it's hard for some women. I think that's the best part about being a woman - that you can actually create life.

When I got pregnant, I spent countless hours reading other blogs to try to learn from other mamas - I'd be on blogs, forums, YouTube... wherever I could get information. I think through that, I think that really helped me, so I'm hoping that wih my blog and with sharing my personal experience, someone can learn from it. Even if it's something super small. I try to keep my experiences as authentic as possible and not try to coat it with anything - the good and the bad.

Dreams don't work unless you do.

Special thanks to Jhoanna and her lovely little family for taking time out of her busy mama schedule to chat over some burgers! Don’t forget to check out her blog for her interview on me, as well as some other amazing content. Mama or not - I'm sure you'll enjoy the visuals and find some good reads.

Mama's Boys Burgers

As usual, any BURGERS AND BARBIE$ interview wouldn’t feel complete without having it over some burgers. I've actually been here before to do a review, but I never got around to posting it. I knew I had to come back here because I remembered how good their burgers were, the opportunity just never presented itself since. Considering Jhoanna lived in Scarborough, this place popped into my mind when we were talking about collaborating.

Although they don't have a website, their menu is simple: delicious home style burgers, hotdogs, as well as some Greek classics, such as souvlaki, gyros and Greek fries. We all ordered the same combo of a 4 oz. American single with a side of fries and a pop. The great part about this place is that your burger is customizable to your liking with classic toppings such as lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions and all the usual sauces. Bacon and cheese are additional toppings you can add to the mix. Because this place serves Greek food, as well, you're also able to add tzatziki, if you'd like!

It's been years since I ate here and let me tell you - the flavour of this burger hit me like a ton of bricks. There's just something about that patty that keeps the bites coming. I was on a roll and pretty much devoured this burger in like 5 minutes. Oh - and the fries were SUCH a treat. The flavour's inexplainable. The outsides like crispy, golden and although greasy - surprisingly, not enough to make you feel like all you're eating is fat. The inside is soft and fluffy. It usually takes me a while to finish my fries, but these were so addicting I pretty much ate them all (except for the extra crispy ones - those I left for Jhoanna lol).

I give this place 4 stilettos. The only reason why this place didn't get a full 5 was because the service wasn't all there (we were given a few eye rolls by the girl assembling our burgers, but what can ya do?!). Otherwise, they serve up some delicious food at reasonable prices. This Scarborough gem is sure to please, so if you're ever in the area and/or are craving some real home style burgers and fries, be sure to hit up Mama's Boys Burgers.
